Review of Paddington 2

We had a fantastic turn out for our latest Family Film screening of Paddington 2 on Sunday 27th May with one mum giving us a glowing review:

“On a beautifully sunny bank holiday Sunday, my family and I headed to WERFA, which was once again host to the Children’s Cinema, this time showing Paddington 2. Having enjoyed the first Paddington film, also at WERFA, this film certainly did not disappoint, with a great storyline and a fantastic cast. The cinema was busier than ever, and the Paddington inspired ice cream and ‘marmalade’ sandwiches proved very popular with children and adults alike! Once again, it felt like a real privilege to be part of such a lovely family event. We cannot wait for the next one!”

We are currently planning our next family film event for October. If you would like to be kept up-to-date, please join our mailing list by sending us your email address to info@woodlandsevents.org.uk or look out for updates on our facebook page: facebook.com/woodlandsevents

Family Film Event: Trolls shown Sunday 2nd April 2017

We had a fantastic turn out for our local cinema screening at the pavilion last month where we showed recent blockbuster ‘Trolls’ to start the Easter break off with some family fun.

With our box office ticket booth, Trolls stickers, freshly made popcorn complete with rainbow sprinkles and our very own ’Trollster’ ice-creams – we pulled out all the stops to make the event extra special for the children.

Local resident Kerrie Lapworth writes:

‘The showing of Trolls for the Family film morning was a fantastic event, and all the little details that had been included made it even more special. From arriving to the beautiful box office box with its specially designed individual tickets which was followed by Troll stickers, to the Rainbow sprinkles popcorn and blue banana Troll ice creams, it felt like everything had been thought of.  The film was great fun, the winner of the Bluray was very happy and the kids all had a great time. Congratulations and a big thanks to the Events team, it was Brilliant!’

Our next family film showing is currently being planned so please do keep an eye on our website www.woodlandsevents.org.uk and Facebook page facebook.com/woodlandsevents for future updates.

Family Film Event: A review of Arthur Christmas

Another great turn out to our family film event at WERFA in December where we screened Arthur Christmas for a bit of festive fun. With the warming scents of hot spiced apple, homemade gingerbread biscuits, mince pies, fresh popcorn and chocolate ice-cream – we certainly provided some Christmas spirit!

Even Father Christmas himself popped in during the film to drop off some surprise presents which added an extra touch of Christmas magic.

Local resident Cathy Johnston writes:

Having been to the two previous screenings organised at the WERFA community hall, I was delighted to see that a festive film was being shown just before Christmas.  My two kids, 5 and almost 3 were very excited and we arranged to go with some friends.  Just like the previous two, everything was well organised: we were able to book our places in advance at a very reasonable price and refreshments including hot drinks, popcorn and even mince pies were available.  The choice of film could not have been better and I’m not lying when I say that Arthur Christmas is now my all-time favourite Christmas film! Oh, and the kids absolutely loved it too and we’ve all watched it twice since at home!!  The fact that Father Christmas himself made a guest appearance during the interval only added to the festive fun, and each child was even given a little gift.  Overall, a fantastic event and we can’t wait for the next!

PADDINGTON family film event.

WERFA was host to another successful Children’s Film Morning on Sunday 21st August showing ‘Paddington’ the movie, a gripping and often laugh-out-loud story based on everyone’s favourite Peruvian bear!

The event was well attended with many people returning to the Pavilion following our first family cinema event in May. Our audience were treated to a ‘real’ cinema experience, with a large screen, surround sound, and a variety of cinema refreshments including South Street ice creams and homemade popcorn.

Children’s film events are a great way to introduce little ones to the wonders of cinema, and with WERFA on everyone’s doorstep, they are minus the hassle and expense of attending larger cinemas. Finding himself lost and alone at Paddington Station, he begins to realise that city life is not all he had imagined – until he meets the kindly Brown family, who read the label around his neck (‘Please look after this bear. Children’s Film review

The Good Dinosaur Family Film screening on 30th May 2016

Our first family film event was very well attended with 64 people, many of whom were new to WERFA making it a great opportunity to introduce our fantastic venue to a wider local audience.

To give the children a real cinema experience, we sold individual tubs of ice-cream from Isleworth’s beloved South Street café, made fresh popcorn served in stripy paper bags, and gave each child a dinosaur sticker and a printed cinema ticket on entrance.

By investing in a large screen covering the entire back wall of the Pavilion, providing a great sound system and selling tickets from an authentic-looking ticket booth made by the talented Les McCallum, we gave the audience the full cinematic experience and received lots of wonderful comments.

One mum, Michelle Hirdle commented ‘We really enjoyed the movie. What a great idea – and it was nice not having too many people. The ice-cream was delicious and we’re looking forward to the next movie.’

The next family film event will take place on Sunday 21st August at 11am. (Great for entertaining the children during the school holidays – and on your doorstep!) Doors will be open from 10am for refreshments and there will be a chance to win the Bluray of the film following the screening. Film TBC so please check the website for updates.
