********************************************

“Criminal damage to motor vehicles” (often mindless vandalism) continues, notably along Riverside Walk. It’s a crime, so if you see it happening please call 999; if possible get a photograph of the perpetrator/s.

********************************************

Despite “everyone having one now”, mobile phone theft still happens; please try to avoid using yours or having it visible while out and about.

Woodlands Estate – Pavements

On behalf of the Council, Hounslow Highways plans to replace the pavements in Woodland Gardens with tarmac by early 2017. At the WERFA AGM in April some residents said that they were against this plan. One of the councillors for our ward, Tom Bruce, has agreed to meet residents to discuss any concerns they may have. The meeting has been arranged for 5pm on Wednesday 25th May in the WERFA pavilion. This meeeting is open to all residents who would like to attend.
If residents have any queries please contact Hounslow Highways.

Marie Cabble

We were sorry to hear about the recent death of Marie Cabble. She was a staunch supporter of WERFA for many years, having moved onto the Woodlands estate in 1962.
During her 54 years of living on the Woodlands she was a regular at the Wednesday Night Bingo in the 80s helping draw the numbers out with Joyce Simpson.
She also took part in the keep fit clubs in the 70s and 80s and in later life loved her garden and won two cups at the flower shows just a few years ago.
She will be sadly missed by her family and neighbours who knew her over many years for her sunny smile and generous nature.

New Auditor for WERFA Accounts needed

For many years Mr Southgate has audited the WERFA General and Social Club accounts. He is now standing down but would be willing to help any new person who feels that they can take this on. The role does not have to be carried out by an accountant.

The job will not need doing until March next year, but please email our Secretary Shelagh Longland or  if you feel you could help us with this task.

Neighbourhood Watch

Warning – warm weather ahead! You still need to remember to close and lock all windows and doors when you leave your house, including sheds and garages; if you’ve an intruder alarm, always activate it when you go out.
Vehicle number-plate theft is on the increase. Measures against this happening are: (1) fit tamper-resistant number-plates; (2) garage your vehicle whenever possible; and (3) park in secure and/or well-lit locations.
Fraudsters are sending bogus phone texts and e-mail messages claiming to be from Apple, typically alleging that your account requires up-dating and giving a link to follow. As always, never follow such links; never provide account details or personal information to people you don’t know. If you receive one of these “Apple” messages, please report it to reportphishing@apple.com
