We have had a recent issue with fly tipping on the estate, with a large amount of rubbish dumped around the Pavilion car park.
If you see anyone fly tipping record as much detail as possible and report the activity immediately to the local council. All information is valuable to the council and will be treated confidentially.
If you can also take photos please do so.
Important details to record are:
The Environment Agency has the statutory responsibility to investigate fly tipping incidences on larger scale where the waste may pose a serious risk to the environment and where the activity is linked to organised crime.
Remember, do not approach any individuals and do not put yourself in any danger.
If you see anyone fly tipping please go online to Hounslow Highways (www.hounslowhighways.org) or call them on 020 8583 2000 to report it.

The latest scam is an authentic-looking e-mail (I actually received one) purporting to come from HMRC, asserting that a significant tax rebate is due and requiring certain actions in order to receive it. Total nonsense of course. Anyone receiving one should please report it to your usual tax office (or ask me for the requisite contact details). Patrick Hooper.

Burglary in Woodlands Road on Thursday 13th October, using a screwdriver to force entry. Take advantage of the free advice available from the Police crime prevention experts, to ensure this doesn’t happen to you.

Damage to motor vehicles and the theft of cars and cycles seem to be the prevailing criminal activities, still going on. Previous advice still applies.
Last month we published an article about Mike Cabble looking for information on his childhood friend Avril Stark who lived at 168 Woodland Gardens back in the 1930’s & 1940’s.
The wrong email address was published with the article. If you tried to contact us with information and couldn’t get your email delivered, could you please try again with the correct email address: werfa@hotmail.co.uk
Thank you, Kerrie.
Despite be given very short notice, Louis Dale put together his first ever quiz night at WERFA with an eclectic mix of questions – including some great videos of old adverts.
The Royal Oak kindly donated a meal voucher, and everyone chipped in a few bob for a go at a single question which raised over £40 for a local charity Hounslow PHAB (Physically Handicapped and Able Bodied), based at Hounslow Youth centre.
PHAB run a few sessions a week for young people with certain disabilities, which helps to give them a sense of independence that they rarely have in their day to day lives.
The money that was raised goes towards new caps and sweatshirts for the volunteer staff and the kids themselves.
Thanks to all who participated.
Please come and join us at 9.30am for the working party and 10.00am for the Garden party on Sunday 6th November and Sunday 4th December to help tidy up in WERFA Park.
Saturday 8th October 2016 at 8pm

Sadly Ted Griffiths has passed away peacefully in his sleep at Cloisters Nursing Home on 18th September after a long illness.
He was an enthusiastic member of the Horticultural Section and will be remembered for the many prizes and cups he won for his flowers and bulbs.
Mike Cabble is wondering if anyone from the WERFA estate remembers Avril Stark who lived at 168 Woodland Gardens back in the 1930’s & 1940’s. He would love to get any news about her, if anybody knows anything. If you have any information, please drop us an email at werfa@hotmail.co.uk
We would like to remind everyone that dogs are not allowed in the WERFA park. Recently some children stepped on a discarded dog mess bag, this is not only antisocial and inconsiderate, it also poses a significant health risk to children as the faeces can lead to toxocariasis which causes serious illness and even blindness.
Thefts of bicycles and of motor vehicles continue; always securely lock your bike (even at home); garage your car if possible.

Latest scam : drones advertised on online shopping websites for below recommended retail prices, money to be paid by bank transfer. You may guess – the drones don’t exist and the “seller” vanishes. “Too good to be true”, indeed.
